I have appreciated the community here on wordpress and looking at your blogs and all the likes and followers I got. I had no expectation of getting a single like or follower or even having anyone look at my blog. So thank you! I hope my posts made your day a little lighter and happier. I am continuing my posts on http://appreciatethegood.net Maybe I’ll see you there!
It is pretty much summer around here. It is green everywhere and although the water is pretty cold at the lake, the sun is warm and I even get hot making sure nobody drowns. It’s really nice when friends join us there. It is just beautiful and lovely and green and warm and amazing outside. I love this weather, it may even be worth the long and dreary winter! The first pic is of the village green in the morning– it gets light at like 5:45 am, so it looks like it’s early afternoon, but it was only 7:30 a.m. The second pic is a few of my boys trying to catch fish with a net.
These pictures were taken in Cambridge, Massachusetts this past week. It is a lovely town. I love Boston, I love New England!! These pillars are at MIT. We ate at an amazing vegan diner called Veggie Galaxy just a couple blocks from here. Wow!!
I love trees. And I love flowering trees in the spring– they are absolutely stunning. I see them everywhere and a lot. I am so glad I got a couple pictures of them. The forest is so cool looking too. So beautiful. Spring is here, it came. Seasons are really really great. If you are having a hard time, you are in a sort of winter, hold on, spring will come, and you will have better days. New growth, new flowers, new leaves, lots of green, lots of hope. Rebirth, new life, and lots and lots of good days!!
These are all taken from my front yard. It is so stunning and beautiful. There are a million more things to take beautiful pictures of in the spring than there were this winter. I could not possibly take a picture of every lovely beautiful thing I see. The trees are all filling in bright green. Flowers are blooming everywhere. It has been warm although is a bit chilly this morning. It is awesome. We can go outside at anytime barefoot and jacketless. It feels so free!!
Kids are blowing and popping bubbles, and the bee is happy flying flower to flower so quickly I could hardly catch him!!
I went for a jog with my son who said he wasn’t complaining because it was my birthday– that was a perfect present. I showered, I meditated, I had some quiet time with my husband, I blogged, I put the snow clothes away, I got some cleaning done, the kids practiced the piano, I got the shopping for the week done and took my daughter to her trumpet lesson, the kids got a bunch of their school work done, and we had a fun little party. It was nice and warm outside too and then cooled off in the evening. Truly a perfect day!! Any day that I get to shower and exercise and blog and teach school and cook and clean is a great day for me– all those things don’t usually happen!! Everyone did nice things for me all day and they tried hard not to complain about their tasks. That was great too.
I got bubbles, binoculars, hats, cards, flowers, a nice frying pan, gardening gloves, a wind chime, some books, some money, some garden plants, and some other little things. And the ice cream was great!! And my husband is going to take me on a Segway tour of Boston. I am a lucky woman and 40 is not so bad!!
So today has been a lovely day. This is MY weekend. I was born on Mother’s Day 40 years ago!! I don’t feel like I’m 40– and I won’t be officially until tomorrow. Today is the last day of my 30s. It has been something, I’ll say– so much change and growth and challenge. So anyway, I made my mother a mother that day, I was her first and she loved me and cared for me and raised me very well, I think. Thank you mom! She has been a great mother, and I am very grateful for her. I had no idea of the level of her love and concern until I had my first baby, and now that my baby girl is a teen, I have a renewed appreciation for my mom for what I realize she did for me– just teaching me to drive for one thing!! I love you mom!!
The spring is glorious!! Especially if you have followed my record of the amount of snow we had this winter. This spring is so amazing and wonderful. I feel so free outside, words are not enough, neither are pictures. The air feels nice, it feels good to breathe and the smells especially right after a rain, and the feeling of the trees and leaves and flowers, it is almost overwhelming to me especially after the long, cold winter we had like I mentioned! Here are some of the photos I’ve taken just in the yard. Click to enlarge.
And as if all that wasn’t enough to be grateful and happy about, to celebrate my birthday which is on Monday, we went to Rhode Island for the first time (we kept missing it on our trips and have been meaning to get there). It was sunny when we left, but foggy when we got there. But it turned out to be a very fun outing, the kids got a little wet, but it was just nice to watch and listen to the waves and walk in the sand. I LOVE the ocean. It is so calming and beautiful and amazing. You can see in the second photo how foggy it was, we took turns walking into the void and being lost by sight through the fog even though we weren’t so far away from each other.
And I LOVE being a mom!! Before I was married and had children, I would often try to figure out what purpose my life would have, I wanted to help others and contribute to humanity in some way, but I was never really sure how. Until I had my first baby, then I felt so needed and so fulfilled in caring for her and my subsequent children. It has certainly had its ups and downs and I can’t say I will ever really miss changing my twins’ diapers or cleaning up blown out diapers or potty training or not sleeping and being in constant, intense demand for meals and cleaning, but I’m really glad I got to do it. I’m really glad I have a wonderful, amazing husband who has made it possible for me to stay home with them and be able to provide for their needs and wants. I love taking care of my children, and being with them and enjoying sweet times together. Here is me with one of my sweet twins who has been a bit clingy lately and makes me feel so loved!
Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Birthday to me!!
It has been so warm and we had such a great summer last year hanging out at the lake, that my kids really wanted to go and see if it was thawed. I told them I was pretty sure it was, but that it would likely be very cold. We figured out a time to go, they wore their swimsuits, although only one of them brought a towel. The rowing team was there, but it looked like they were leaving, so over to the beachfront we went. All but my oldest had come for this, and all 7 of them got very wet and the good swimmers swam and loved it!! Once one of them got out and started shivering without a towel, I figured it was time to get, go home and take baths. I’m sure we’ll be returning often!!
This is a branch from a tree in my backyard getting ready to bloom. There are lots of dandelions and forsythia, I saw my first tulips in town starting to open up. I am soaking up all the warmth and all the time I can be outside without a sweater and no boots. It’s awesome!! Yay for spring!!
